In the third quarter of 2025, the food delivery market in South Africa saw significant activity across leading Android applications. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top five apps based on data from Sensor Tower.

Uber Eats: Food and Grocery experienced a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, starting at around 26.6K and dipping to 18.5K mid-quarter, before rising again to peak at 27.5K by the end of September. The app maintained a high level of weekly active users, with figures oscillating between 1.0M and 1.4M, showing a notable peak in the final weeks.

Mr D Food & Grocery Delivery displayed a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting from 23.7K and reaching 26.8K by the end of the quarter. Active user numbers also showed growth, beginning at 1.35M and peaking at 1.82M, before settling at 1.58M.
